I once heard someone say that it is not OK to yell fire in a crowded theater. It kind of makes sense at first glance. Let’s just play this out.
You just got your ticket you are loaded with pop corn and a soda. As you walk in you hear the lights pop behind you toward the entrance and in front of you toward the main exit. A fire has started at the ceiling and is following on the floor. You know you cannot get out in either direction but there is another exit closer to you that you can get to in the next few minutes. You see no fire alarms. What should you do? Should you run outside ASAP or should you go into each of the five theaters and quietly say, “Excuse me but to whom it may concern there seems to be a flame heading your way fairly quickly”. Should you perhaps throw open the doors and yell, “People, there is a fire! Please exit quickly and safely so that no one gets hurt”. Would you hesitate for a minute because you were being unpolite or intrusive?
If friends, loved ones, or even strangers were in danger of burning in a fire Wouldn’t you feel obligated to do something? (How about in a lake of fire)
2 Peter 3:9
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Matthew 7:13
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Luke 10:27 - And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
What should be our attitude toward the lost? Why? Use some of the supplied scripture to help you with your answer.
What can we do for the people heading for the wide path? Will you?
Romans 3:23 tells us that all have sinned and fall short. (The fire is waiting) Please people. Make a commitment to save as many as you can (with God’s help). Will you?
Lord Help Us! Amen
