What is Easter all about?

If you ask someone what is Christmas all about even many children can tell you something along the correct track. We know about the manger, the angels and the virgin Mary.

What about Easter. A rabbit hides candy for children. He doesn't really lay the eggs does he? Easter is the story of how Jesus paid the price for our sins. Our salvation, was bought by him. Easter is the culmination of the Gospel and what Jesus did for us.

We should know something of what happened that week.

Palm Sunday: Jesus started his day by going to Jerusalem and ended it by returning to the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus (The one who Jesus raised from the dead). Matt 21:1-11,14-17, Mark 11:1-11, Luke 19:29-44, John 12:12-19

Monday, Day of Confrontation

Jesus cleansed the temple, cursed the fig tree, and again mentioned that the Son of Man would be lifted to glory. Matt 21:18-19, 12-13, Mark 11:12-18, Luke 19:45-48, John 12:20-50

Tuesday, Day of Controversy

The fig tree had wilted. Jesus confronted many and taught of the end times on the Mount of Olives. Matt 21:19-25:46, Mark 11:19-13:37, Luke 20:1 - 21:36

Wednesday, Day of Conspiracy

The chief priest and scribes plotted to kill Jesus. Judas agreed to betray Jesus.

Thursday, Day of Consecration

Jesus and the twelve had the Lord's Supper. Jesus washed the disciples feet.

Good Friday

(Approx. 12:00am - 3:00am) Jesus prayed in Gethsemane where he was arrested.

(Approx. 3:00am - 6:00am) Jesus was put on trial before the Jews and was betrayed by Peter.

(Approx. 6:00am - 9:00am) Jesus was put on trial and sentenced to crucifixion.

(Approx. 9:00am - 3:00pm) Jesus was whipped and crucified. He died around 3:00pm. He was taken down and buried. Matt 26:30-27:61, Mark 14:26-15:47, Luke 22:39 - 23:56, John 18:1 - 19:42

Saturday, Day of Silence and Anguish

Jesus laid in the tomb. Roman Soldiers guarded it. The Apostles hid. Matt 27:62-66

Sunday, He is Risen

Jesus arose! On this day, Jesus appeared four times. Matt 28:1-15, Mark 16:1-7, Luke 24:2-35, John 20:1-17

Now What?

Our very souls and the souls of our loved ones are dependent on Jesus and what he did for us. Should everyone know? "HE AROSE!!!"
