The Word

When I was young the Bible was called, you guessed it, the Bible.  Later I learned that many people call it "the word".  This implies of course that this book contains the words that he says or wants you to hear

(Isaiah 55:8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

Keep in mind, God has apparently arranged things in a way that we can understand. For much of the Old Testament, he had spokesman such as Noah, Moses, Samuel, etc.  After the Christ we have the Bible.

(Genesis 1:1)    In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

In the beginning even words were too much for us.  God figured out a way, through Moses, to tell us that he created time (beginning), energy (created), and matter (heaven and earth).  Add a dash of reason and we can conclude that God is timeless, spaceless, and immaterial.  Thus Isaiah 55:8 above is really true and we are stretching our imaginations just to paint a picture in our mind of his glory.

God spoke words to create (Gen 1:6, 9-11,14, etc.)  He is timeless, spaceless, immaterial.  Does he have no mouth to speak, or does he have anything and everything just because he wills it?

(Genesis 1:26) And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness and them have dominion over everything he had created.

God is already multiple entities within himself. (our image) We were created in his image.  God said that everything he created was good, but we were very special.  We have the ability to love him or reject him. None of the rest of his creation could do this. We can choose to love God or reject his word.

(John 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

We note that in the beginning was God, and everything that happened was the result of God.

(Genesis 3:15) …..it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

God loves us all (John 3:16) and has a plan. If we can love (obey his word) then we will learn that (1 John 4:8) God is love.

(John 1:12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God ….

We can be adopted into his family.

(John 1:14) And the Word was made flesh, and swelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Word became flesh.  God's very will, his wish, his glory became a man (first a little baby).  He came to ceil the deal.  He gave part of himself, his son. Part of "our image". Jesus paid the price for us breaking the Word of God. He did this so that his creation, that he loves, and that loves him, can be with him in his glory.

Christmas has come.  Easter is coming.  God’s word will be fulfilled.

What are you going to do about it?
