Jesus was on the cross. He had been beaten and was now covered with blood. Despite all that we (you) had done to him he said, “Lord please forgive them, for they know not what they do”. (Luke 23:34)
We are Christians. We know now. In a sense we are there now, watching our SAVIOR die for us. We know we must repent and turn away from our sins. Our loved ones and everybody else must do the same. A very high price was paid for our sin.
But still:
We covet. We want what other people have. (Exodus 20:17)
Many of us spread rumors or talk negatively about others in a way we would not talk to them directly (Proverbs 16:28)
We place many things (e.g., money, career, technology) above God in our lives. (Exodus 20:3-4)
We are buried in excessive self-esteem and disregard others on our own behalf. (Proverbs 16:18)
We sit down and mealtime and eat and drink ourselves silly. (Proverbs 13:4)
We are greedy and envious (Luke 12:15, James 3:16)
We lie and think nothing of it (Proverbs 12:22)
We let our anger control us. (Ephesians 4:26-27)
Back to the beginning. He is on the CROSS. We are still SINNING. Perhaps we should REPENT and do everything in our power to keep from driving the nails in a little deeper. Perhaps we should tell others about what he did. He loved us enough to go through the CROSS. Do you love him?
What are you going to do about it?
