Is compromise a good idea. When we were kids, we could split the last piece of candy or fight for it. Many times, it is good but what about matters of faith? I think the Bible says one thing. Someone else thinks the Bible says exact opposite. (1)
Some people say it is only a figure of speech. Everybody does it. I don’t mean anything by it. (2)
Sometimes I do lie to my parents. I just don’t want them to be upset. In this way it is just easier. (3)
You don’t need to go to church to believe in God. (4)
I don’t think anyone could say it is bad to love someone. (5)
Everybody does it these days. (6)
1. (2 Timothy 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2. (Exodus 20:7) You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
3. (Proverbs 6:16-19) These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a LYING tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood……
4. Even the devil believes in God. (Job 1:7) And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. (Hebrews 10:25) Not forsakeing the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
5. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, not homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
6. (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 again)
The fact is it is in our nature (sin nature) to try and bend the rules set out by God. One of the temptations that Satan put before Eve was the ability to dictate what is right or wrong. The problem is that sin is transgression of the law. In other words, sin is disobeying God. Compromising without disobeying God is a good Idea (settle differences quickly) But a lukewarm Christian is not a good Idea. (7) The bible is full of examples of people who defied God to do things their own way. (8)
7. (Revelation 3:16) So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
8. (Genesis 6:9-9:17) the great flood drowned many. (Genesis 19:24) Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord of the heavens.
Do you really think you can get the Lord God Almighty to change is word to suite you? What about all the other people out there who think it’s OK to get him to change his word for them? Perhaps we should warn them.
Do not compromise your loyalty to God for the sake of fitting in with man.
In any case, what are you going to do about it?
