Bill kissed his wife Anna and their little boy Samuel before boarding the troop train in 1917, a small Bible tucked into his coat. In the mud‑filled trenches of France, he prayed nightly for his family and for the men beside him. When his unit came under fire during a desperate advance, James rushed forward to pull a wounded soldier to safety, shielding him with his own body. He died on the battlefield with his Bible still in his hand — a Christian husband, father, and patriot who gave his life so others could live.
⭐ God’s Sacrifice
Long before any war, God looked upon a world broken by sin and chose to save it through the greatest sacrifice ever given. He sent His Son, Jesus, not to condemn but to rescue. Jesus willingly stepped into our darkness, carried our guilt, and died on a cross so that we could live forever. Where earthly heroes give their lives for their friends, Jesus gave His life for His enemies — for all of us — so we could be reconciled to God.
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
Many have died for God and Country. What are you going to do about it?
